Brownhills, Staffs
Originally launched 11 years ago
in an old and small former Co-

the current site when the owner
turned it in to a full time
business. A range of ales are
supplied to local pubs, each with
an oddball name such as
Beorma and Wergild. The
brewery is not scared to try
unusual styles and has picked up
a clutch of awards.

HIGHGATE BREWERY
Walsall
Highgate Brewery was first set
up by James Fletcher in 1898
and the brewery is proud of the
fact that its beers have hardly
changed since. Originally
brewed to satisfy the thirsts of
workers from the local
foundries, Highgate became
part of Bass Brewers in the
1960s but when it faced closure
was bought out by a
management team. A deal was
done with the Aston Manor
Brewery to ensure stability and
recently the brewery started
brewing Davenports to the
original recipe, thereby saving a
legendary Black Country name.

HOLDEN’S BREWERY CO.

The Holden family’s long relationship

decades and was first linked to the

the Park Inn at Woodsetton, and with it a
brewhouse. The popularity of their beers
grew and so did the size of their brewing
operation. After the death of first Edwin
and then Lucy the business passed to son
Teddy, who bought several pubs and the
business has passed down through the
family ever since.
