Nose
Nutty malt, tobacco, chocolate and treacle.
Palate
Rich, exaggerated maltiness is well to the fore, offering smoky nut and treacle flavours, but sweetness is easily offset as hops step in, bringing some tart fruit (almost like grapefruit).
Finish
Malty, gently bitter, full and nutty, drying all the time.
Comment
A well-rounded, ruby ale, a welcomingly autumnal beer in both colour and taste.
