Nose: Plain chocolate digestive biscuits. Pleasant whiff of polished leather. Light nutmeg aromas and a trace of floral fruitiness.
Palate: More chocolate biscuits, enhanced by gentle floral notes and a little sharp elderberry. Silky smooth (contains oats), bittersweet and just a touch warming.
Finish: Gum-tingling and bittersweet with a chocolatey maltiness. Hops gradually build and some tart fruit lingers.
Comment: A very successful strong ruby ale that is complex but well balanced.
