Perfumed, floral and slightly gingery, with sweet toffee in the background.
Palate
More floral character and ginger spice. Light earthy notes and a faint hoppiness lie over the toffeeish sweetness. An unusual but pleasant minty coolness.
Finish
Bittersweet, malty, perfumed and drying, with minty flavours persisting.
Comment
A well-balanced, intriguing, dark golden beer based on a 16th century recipe. The hot wort is infused with heather flowers and bog myrtle, which presumably
is responsible for the spicy flavours.
