Heady, spicy and promises dryness on the palate. The fruit presence (lemon and other citrus) is not overloaded. Almond/marzipan notes develop strongly.
Palate
Immediately dry, but not lacking sweetness. Bitter citrus flavours. Strong alcoholic notes and warmth.
Finish
Very dry, bitter and hoppy. Light lingering malt and pineapple fruitiness.
Comment
The dryness and complexity are impressive but this golden ale – widely recognised as the benchmark for the tripel style – is too obviously alcoholic.
