Sweet and fruity with juicy, tart wafts of pineapple over soft, dark malt, becoming a little grassy as the beer warms.
Palate
Big, moussey mouthfeel, with lots of natural carbonation creating tiny, smooth bubbles. It's not as sweet as expected, nor quite as full bodied, with sugary, dark, chocolatey malt flavours and a raisin-like fruitiness somewhat overshadowed by a dominating grassy note.
Finish
Roasted malt and raisins push through in the dry, bitter finish.
Comment
The grassy note is an unwelcome distraction but this chestnut-coloured ale from Belgium still grows on you.
