Citrus fruit – lemon and orange in particular – from the hops and the added coriander shine through over full, smooth but largely unobtrusive malt.
Palate
Zingy, bitter oranges lead the way, with good malt support. On the bitter side, but nicely balanced, with a gentle, spicy warmth and a drying, oaky backnote.
Finish
Oak is even more obvious, making the finish very dry but still allowing bitter oranges and tangy hops to play a part.
Comment
A blend of a dark ale and an oak-aged barley wine, with coriander thrown in for good measure. The finish is perhaps a bit too oaky and dry, and a little more sweetness throughout would probably be of benefit, but it's all interesting and fresh tasting.
