Nose
Malty, with mellow milk chocolate, gentle hop resins and light baker's spices.
Palate
Bitter, showing a good balance of malt and hops. Lightly chocolatey and nutty, with a sharp orchard fruitiness providing an edge.
Finish
Nutty and heavily roasted. Although there are dark grain flavours in the taste, they don't quite prepare you for such a roasted finish. Dry and bitter, too.
Comment
A sturdy, red-coloured bitter with a good, complex malty background. Not quite FAB, as they used to say in the puppet series from which it takes its name, but decent enough.
