Biscuity malt and very gentle caramel, with notes of tropical and stewed fruits and some alcohol.
Sweet, full-bodied and silky smooth, with suggestions of aniseed and liquorice in the modest bitterness. Boiled sweet notes also figure, along with cherry/date-like esters that pop up as the beer warms in the mouth.
Slick and bittersweet, suggestive of cherry and plum. Bitterness grows and slowly takes over. A pleasant, warming glow lingers.
A polished, well-rounded ‘imperial red ale' that will do a fine job of keeping out the winter cold.
