Nose
Slightly sulphurous, malty, creamy and mellow with hints of apple and liquorice.
Palate
Mostly bitter and tangy with spicy hops, but creamy malt is always present, backed by more apple and liquorice. Light-drinking for the strength.
Finish
Dry, hoppy, malty and slightly salty. There's more liquorice in the character-defining bitterness.
Comment
A successful bottled recreation of a classic draught ale. It lacks the fullness of body of the cask original but it's a pleasant drink.

Nose
Fragrant. Bread and butter pudding overlaid with Opal Fruits and lemons. A touch of sulphur.
Palate
Comes at you from all sides. All the flavours detected on the nose fill the mouth.
Finish
At first more sweet fruits, then really quite bitter. More than expected from the sweet nose. Goes on and on and on.
Comment
The finish is slightly too bitter for me. If you've ever been tempted to lick the dewy drops that emerge from a cut squash or courgette (no? just me then), it finishes a bit like that.
