Heady aroma of sherry and light toffee, with red berry and sultana notes emerging as the beer warms in the glass.
Palate
Sweet and sherry-like with an almost syrupy, sultana-grape flavour. Soft caramel hides in the background while bursts of Cointreau-like orange freshen up the palate. Alcohol vapours are present but not unpleasant.
Finish
Gently warming on the swallow. There's an unusual, slightly burnt grain note, but it's still mostly sweet, with caramel, dried fruits, oranges and a slowly building hop bitterness and dryness.
Comment
A complex, orange-golden ale that offers something new with every sip. A year old but still on the sweet side.
