Nose
Creamy, mellow fruit – pear, lemon and mandarin orange, with a peppery coriander note.
Palate
A mellow balance of coriander and citrus fruit, with a clove-like bitterness developing.
Finish
Dry and chewy with more peppery coriander and cloves.
Comment
Having set the benchmark for the witbier style, this beer now appears to be going through the motions. It seems to have less flavour than when I last tasted it and drinks rather dull and tired.

Nose
Sweetcorn (the boffins call that chemical DMS doncha know). Baked bean water and cloves.
Palate
Cloves and a citrus fruit bitterness.
Finish
Juicy and sweet. More cloves.
Comment
I'm really picking up on the cloves today. I'm not a dedicated Hoegaardee, but it is a good, well crafted wheat beer which has been phenomenally successful for good reasons.
