Spicy and slightly musty, with hints of bubblegum and traces of pear and citrus.
Palate
Warming and throat-catching. Bitter fruit is the first impression, with pear and a citrus acidity, then hops burst through. Lots of mouthfilling natural carbonation.
Finish
Dry, warming and bitter, with light fruit lingering. But it is hops that really command the finish – earthy, tangy and lipsmacking.
Comment
The latest extension to the Gouden Carolus range, a yellow beer with a deep, dense foam of tiny bubbles. It features four types of hops but is typically Belgian in its challenging strength, musty yeastiness and warmth.
