Nose
Dark chocolate, toffee, whisky and creamy, tart oak.
Palate
Bitter and creamy, with more dark chocolate and toffee, plus some coffee. Oaky tartness dries the palate, which is otherwise very smooth and mouthfilling.
Finish
Roasted grain makes the first impression, bringing more coffee. Otherwise the warming finish is drying, bitter, tangy and oaky with a light, sugary note.
Comment
Dark malt flavours are prominent in this first of three versions of Ola Dubh (‘black oil').

Nose
Burnt marmalade with espresso and vanilla hints.
Palate
Oranges, burnt vanilla pod and Venetian coffee all at once. Hop bitterness joins in.
Finish
Well balanced. Lovely hop finish.
Comment
Porter Red with little head. Needs slow drinking to appreciate.
