Nose
Notes of bubblegum and pear drop at first, settling down into light chocolate and caramel.
Palate
More estery pear drop and bubblegum lead the way, slightly masking the underlying dry, lightly-roasted malt taste. Gently bitter overall.
Finish
Bitter and drying with nutty, roasted malt.
Comment
A ruby beer with no shortage of flavour (and an unusual estery character) for the strength, but more a pussycat than a panther.

Burnt malt and yeast.
Palate
A strangely-intense flavour for its strength, reflective of the aroma and without much change from start to finish.
Finish
Clean and dry, if not a little hollow.
Comment
Idiosyncratic in its flavours and aroma, something off-centre for those who pursue mild ales.
