Nose

Biscuity malt, caramel and nut, with strong cocoa notes soon taking over.

Palate

A little papery up front, then a cocoa-like bitterness blends with a treacle-like sweetness from the malt and hints of dried vine fruits. Suggestions of cola and liquorice.

Finish

Dry and mildly bitter with a powdery chocolate character.

Comment

A garnet-brown lager with enjoyable flavours on the whole and decent balance, but it would be a lot better if it were a little fresher.
