Big biscuity aroma of dark chocolate, liquorice and a little caramel.
Palate
More biscuity chocolate and liquorice, with a banana-like dryness emerging. There's some citrus sharpness,
too, but this is a mostly sweet beer with a light caramel accent to the malt.
Finish
Dry, malty, chocolatey and progressively bitter.
Comment
The front label describes Exmoor Beast simply as a ‘strong ale', but when you read the small print on the
reverse, its origins in the porter style are made clear.
