Nose: Ovaltine-like malt aromas backed by a light apricot fruitiness.
Palate: Ovaltine again leads the way, balanced by gentle citrus and apricot from the hops. Sweet overall, turning slightly peppery as the strength becomes apparent.
Finish: Takes time to build but, eventually, sweet, light malt emerges and is soon swallowed up by hops.
Comment: One of the first organic ales, although the strain of barley that gives the beer its name is no longer used in the brew. After a full malty aroma and taste, the finish is refreshingly delicate.
