Nose: Spicy and slightly musty in the Belgian fashion, with a tropical fruit note and curaçao/bitter orange zestiness.
Palate: Sweet and full bodied with a buzz of alcoholic warmth right from the start. Zesty bitter oranges dominate, but there are herbs and spices, too. The carbonation explodes on the tongue, filling the mouth with bubbles.
Finish: Gum-numbing and hoppy, with lingering sweetness. Herbal notes continue.
Comment: A powerful, bottle-conditioned, tripel-style, golden ale that cries out for a food accompaniment – a herbal cheese or lemon chicken would work.
