Nose
Chocolate, liquorice and a hint of toffee.
Palate
More chocolate, toffee and liquorice set against creamy malt and a firm bitterness, with faint citrus notes.
Finish
Dry and bitter with dark chocolate and hop flavours – rather like the speciality ‘hop chocolates' some brewery shops sell.
Comment
A deep garnet/ruby porter, named in honour of English Civil War commander Thomas Fairfax. Full-flavoured and satisfying.

Nose
Roasted. Sweet malt and caramel. Tackroom (leather saddles).
Palate
Surprisingly light for its colouring. Roasted coffee beans and a well balanced bitterness.
Finish
Cirtussy. Burnt biscuits. Lingers and makes your mouth water.
Comment
A classic winter warmer that sticks to the sides of your mouth.
