Nose
Chocolate, smoked malt and damsons.
Palate
Bitter dark malts dominate, with lots of chocolate and coffee flavours. Also smoky, with tart fruit notes.
Finish
Bitter, biscuity and dry with plain chocolate lingering. Surprisingly hoppy for a stout.
Comment
The bitterness, smoky notes and tart fruit don't really come together. Not as smooth or as successful as the Cherry Stout (above) from the same brewery.
