Nose
Moist, sticky chocolate brownies with a dash of treacle toffee.
Palate
Rich, mouth-filling Bourneville chocolate and dark toffee, with malty sweetness for balance. There are wafts of coffee, and a little mouth-puckering dryness.
Finish
Dry. The chocolate toffees become bitter, more roasted and coffee-like.
Comment
A ruby-coloured old ale from Sussex that stumps up plenty of flavour and would wash down a chocolate pudding a treat. I'd love to try a bottle-conditioned version, which would add a touch of lightness.
