Artois Bock

Nose: Malt and toffee, with an appetising spiciness.
Palate: A spicy, almost liquorice-like hoppiness arrives for balance. Sweet and ultra smooth with hazelnut emerging.
Finish: Pleasantly bitter with gentle, liquorice-like spice. Nutty, toffeeish malt character with a hint of bitter orange.
Comment: An interesting recreation of a beer from the Artois archives: a hybrid of the bock and Vienna lager styles. All too drinkable for its strength, hence only sold in small bottles or, on draught, in half-pints.
