Spicy, malty, honeyed and floral, with suggestions of pineapple.
Palate
Soft, velvety mouthfeel. The honey is obvious but doesn't destroy the balance of the beer, which falls just on the bitter side of bittersweet. Hoppiness is only mild and there are floral and pineapple notes floating around.
Finish
Soft on the swallow, leaving mellow honeyed malt to linger until bitter hops take over.
Comment
A fine, unpasteurised honey beer, with the right softness of texture but without the overbearing sweetness and floral notes some beers of this kind can have. The perfect accompaniment for roasted gammon.
