Nose
Alcoholic, filled with toffee and sherry.
Palate
More sherry and toffee in the sweet, alcoholic taste, but it's all a bit empty.
Finish
Dry, chewy and sweet, with raisin and sherry notes. It's warming, too, then tails off.
Comment
A bizarre, cloudy golden beer. Close inspection of the back label reveals that this is a diat pils, with much of the sugar fermented out. Not unpleasant but not entirely satisfying either.

Nose
Whoah! I assumed that 1977 was the name rather than the year of bottling, but evidently not – this is one old bottle of beer. Loads of sherry and banana toffee.
Palate
Very dry (well, it was a diat pils long ago). Loads of dried fruit (sultana) and fruitcake (including the marzipan and icing). Lots more oloroso sherry and a nutty quality.
Finish
Warm.
Comment
As a taste experience, demonstrating what time can do to beer, it's a nine. As beer that I'd drink again, I'd be an April fool to give more than a four.
