The World Cider Awards are the international awards selecting the very best ciders. Organised by tastingbeers.com, this annual cider tasting promotes the ‘Best Ciders in the World’ to consumers throughout the world.
Judging is blind and held in stages. Ciders compete in heats, starting with the country/region of origin. The winners of each country/region of origin go through to the sub-category level and are then tasted against each other. These winners are then finally tasted against each other to select the World’s Best Cider. The World’s Best Perry will be selected from all the perries in to this single category.

Given beer and cider’s (albeit rather mystifying) kinship, it struck us as surprising that there existed no international award scheme recognising the quality of ciders from around the world. In the past, cider has been very much a regional concern, often not travelling very far from orchard to glass. But thanks to the drink’s ever increasing popularity, some ciders are finally being enjoyed outside of Somerset.
So, following on from the success of the World Cider Awards in 2007 and 2008, as well as our own interest in the fermented apple, we felt the time was right to launch the World Cider Awards upon the world. And in doing so, draw attention to those truly exceptional ciders that are currently being produced.
